The Shaw Group is looking to add an Engineer/Production-Manger to the Shaw Brick team in Lantz, Nova Scotia.
Shaw Brick is a leading and trusted Atlantic Canadian manufacturer, distributor and retailer of clay brick, concrete block and concrete landscape products. Shaw Brick combines innovative product design with modern manufacturing methods to deliver products with both aesthetic appeal and high quality. The Brick Division’s manufacturing plants include a clay brick plant, two block plants and a concrete landscape products plant. As Atlantic Canada’s only manufacturer of clay brick and a major concrete products manufacturer Shaw Brick proudly gives customers the opportunity to buy local in support of the regional economy. Shaw Brick products are sold and supported by five Shaw Retail Centres and a network of over 340 independent retailers throughout Eastern Canada.
As The Shaw Brick Division Engineer you will assist and support the development and execution of high-level strategy including setting vision and direction for the Brick Division. You will develop and use a foundation of manufacturing and business knowledge to set direction and execute on the opportunities which will grow the division. As a member of the management team you will contribute to new product and business development. You will provide engineering guidance and expertise for the production and sales teams. With direct involvement as a Manager in production operations you will provide direction and support to the Plant Supervisors in areas including production and resources planning, operational efficiency, problem solving, new product development and sales team support. .
This is a growth position and responsibilities will evolve as your knowledge of the business increases.
As the ideal candidate, you have a degree in Engineering preferably in Civil, Industrial or Mechanical. You have at least 7 years of experience in consulting, construction, concrete and/or manufacturing. Financial knowledge would be considered an asset. You are a quick learner who is self-driven, self-directed and who has excellent interpersonal skills. You have shown leadership qualities, business acumen and have a strong desire to grow your career. Your problem solving skills and the creativity you use in finding solutions will help you to succeed in this dynamic environment.
