A summer job has plenty of perks. - 123RF
Are you on the hunt for a job that’ll let you earn a bit of money over the summer? There’s nothing wrong with wanting to get paid. Just know that working comes with tons of other perks and benefits you may not have even thought of. Here are four:
1.To gain experience. Above all, having a summer job will help you flesh out your CV. Regardless of the type of work you’ll be doing, it’ll give you professional experience that may help you stand out from other candidates in a job interview down the road.
2.To develop your essential skills. When you start working, you’ll also start developing skills and attributes that will serve you well in the future: leadership, resourcefulness, team spirit, punctuality, responsibility, stress management, etc.
3.To build a professional network. Even if your summer job doesn’t exactly match your field of study or dream career path, it will allow you to build relationships that could prove invaluable in a future job search.
4.To meet new people. You’re not the only person your age looking for a job this summer. Working over the holiday is a great opportunity to meet new people. Who knows — it could be the start of lifelong friendships!
